The statins most used today are lovastatin (Merck's Mevacor), pravastatin (Pravachol), fluvastatin (Lescol), atorvastatin (Lipitor from Pfizor) and simvastatin (Zocor). All the aforementioned benefits make statins among the most commonly used drugs for lowering cholesterol.
